JFK Half Dollar
US$0.00
This coin was first minted in 1964 (90% silver) very shortly after the death
of President John F. Kennedy (35th U.S. President) and subsequently from
1965 to 1969 (40% silver).
Shortly after his inauguration in 1961, President Kennedy proclaimed to the
world that he wanted the United States to send “a man to the moon and
bring him safetly back to earth.”
Four hundred thousand Nasa (National Air & Space Association)
employees worked tirelessly towards that objective and 50 years ago on
July 20th, 1969 astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong planted the U.S.
Flag on the moon.
