Morgan Dollar
US$0.00
The mintage of the Morgan Silver Dollar was authorized under the Bland-Allison Act of
1878. It required the treasury department to purchase between 2 to 4 million dollars of
silver bullion each month at market prices to be coined into dollars.
The coins is named after its designer, U.S. Mint assistant engraver, George T. Morgan.
The Morgan dollar was produced with several mint marks located above the word “one
dollar” on the obverse side. The “CC” represents Carson City, “S” for San Francisco, “O”
for New Orleans and “D” is for Denver. Most Morgan dollars have no mint marks and
those were produced in Philadelphia.
